I am back in NYC.

My OG learning ground for story-telling.

When I teleport myself back to that time…I can visualize myself waiting nervously outside my old Creative Director’s corner office.

I’d learn fast if I’d get the laugh — or get laughed out of their room.

Those moments expedite one’s learning curve.

A long time later, I’m back in NYC on “The Today Show” set.

Come Tuesday, the Landon Donovan memoir will be out in the wild.

Most people that follow sports know “Landon Donovan”.

Most people that follow sports don’t know “Landon”.

Growing up without a father isn’t a new story.

But it’s never an easy one.

And it’s not one you ever choose.

It’s one I know Landon wishes he could have rewritten.

Want to know the impact “Landon” had on United States soil?

Just track the baby name “Landon” here in America:

I’m 18 days away from six years on this project.

Six years of listening.

Six years of earning trust.

Six years of chasing the truth behind the name.

It’s been the honor of a lifetime.

Truly.

I’ve always loved soccer.

I’ve always loved story.

Somewhere along the way…I came to love the human behind both.
