I truly love connecting with people.
One of the more enjoyable parts of the keynote business is getting to travel all over the country to meet people who, on the surface, seem different than me. Over the last decade, I’ve been a Johnny Cash song where I’ve:
- connected with farmers in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
- landed with Americans in Fargo, North Dakota
- laughed with Texans in Houston, Texas
- dined with YPO in Kansas City, Missouri
- broke bread (over bread) in Madison, Wisconsin
- kept it real with C-Suite executives in NY, NY
- had deep talks with “now friends” in Atlanta, Georgia
- talked shop, life and politics in Grand Rapids, Michigan
- enjoyed beers and fears with folks across Florida
- built genuine relationships at a fire pit in Los Angeles, CA
- went deep with some good souls in Seattle, Washington
This is a long, winding way to suggest:
While next week in America could get tricky…
“We the people” are more alike than not.
We all want to feel seen.
We all worry for those we care about.
We all wish for better days.
“We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”
