Where Do You Need Courage the Most?
This line sums up the versatility of my business.
Sometimes, it’s a change mission with a corporate client.
Or, like last week, it’s running a workshop or giving a keynote.
On other days, it’s guiding elite performers through the coaching program.
A week ago, I had one of my clients write a note to their inner critic.
The note made me 1) grin and, 2) ask for permission to share the below with you:
Hey you,
How have I possibly given you so much free real estate in my mind, or cared what you think, when you have never done a thing to help me—not fixed anything, not made anything better, never helped resolve a single issue.
It’s been the opposite.
You trip me, keep me stuck, and rob me of my time where I could be doing the things I love.
You make me defensive, and twist situations.
You’re not even true half the time.
You don’t want what’s best for me, you’re never going to improve my life.
I know you’ll be out there in the universe but we need to go our separate ways.
When was the last time you sat your inner critic down?
What would you say to yourself in your letter?
Would you have that hard heart-to-heart?
One snippet I did share with my client:
She ends her note with, “But we need to go our separate ways.”
You have a roommate for life who lives between your ears.
So we need to learn to live with this inner critic.
