Do tell.

What is your Ist?

When you review the “IST List”, you start to recognize that some “ISTs” are more hobby than job:

Artist. Adventurist. Bicyclist. Pianist. Mixologist. Tourist. Hobbyist. Spiritualist.

Some “Ists” are more job than hobby:

Anthropologist. Dental Hygienist. Botanist. Journalist. Environmentalist. Economist. Scientist.

Some “Ists” can be extreme and take years to achieve:

Archaeologist. Contortionist. Oncologist. Chemist. Psychologist. Ventriloquist. Cartoonist. Geologist.

Other “Ists” might personally bring great pride:

Pacifist. Buddhist. Realist. Optimist. Idealist. Populist. Humorist.

Not all “Ists” are noble:

Narcissist. Sexist. Elitist. Terrorist. Racist. Arsonist. Polygamist. Extremist.

And some “Ists” we take some bending liberties with:

Baconist. Memeist. Resortist. Carnivorist. Meditationist. Vegasist. Conversationalist. Courageist.

None of us are born an IST.

We get to decide what we “IST” and what we don’t “IST”.

To “Ist” is to acknowledge that you are on a path for intentional mastery on a topic of your choosing.

IST = A follower of a distinctive practice, system or philosophy.

To become an IST, it takes:

• time

• commitment

• curiosity

• passion

• repetition

So commit to an IST that would make you proud. Commit to an IST that’s worth your energy. Commit to an IST that brings you — and those around you — joy.

What do you want to declare as your IST?

You are what you Ist.
